Return to prayer list

Foster child.

We'd first, like to explain a little bit of the forefront of our story. Summer of 2016 we had been asked if we would be interested in an immediate adoption of the unborn child and at the time felt that was not what God had in store for us. Then early November 2016 we received a call for possible placement of the newborn baby girl. After receiving word the child had been born, we prayed and read: 1 Chronicles 29:1 "The King David said to the whole assembly: "My son Solomon, the one whom God has chosen is young and inexperienced. The task is great, because this palatial structure is not for man but for the Lord God." This scripture spoke directly to our hearts. We had recently moved into our larger home in preparation for a family and had been praying for our home and lives to be used by God in some manner and we were certainly young and inexperienced to parenting. We felt this child was how God planned to use us. So we made the call to accept the child into our hearts and home, knowing the battle for her safety would be a big one. God quickly showed his hand in the situation when "lines" were crossed by state workers and the child was placed via DCFS in an unlicensed home, three counties from where the child was born. We knew then that God was in control and know now he will continue to provide/protect us and our baby. However, we are now asking for prayers for several different parts of the case. • The child's mother is aware she stands no chance of ever taking custody of her baby. Please pray the biological mother can come to peace with this information. And stay clean from the drugs that have almost taken her life on several occasions. She struggles from addiction and unsafe thoughts in regards to her own life. And now knowing she could have protected the baby from the man who previously hurt her is weighing very heavy on her. • The child's father who previously did not want to anything to do with the child. Has now decided he would like to pursue custody of her. From what the biological mother has voiced to us, he is not a safe option, but has no police record proving any wrong doings. Please pray the judge/courts will be able to protect the child from him and a life of hardship. • We have struggled with anxiety throughout the case and as the days go by we find ourselves even more anxious. Please pray for peace of mind as we continue to fight for our child's safety. And that we can lean completely on the Lord to get us through this very stressful time in our lives. • The child who is young and innocent can sense the stress building in our home. Please pray that if the courts does deem the father as fit, we can remain a part of her life and show her and her father, Christ in any way possible. And that we are able to enjoy any and all moments with her, instead of dwelling on the negative possibilities. Thank you for all the prayers. We know there is power in prayer and that God will get us through this.
