Pony Ride Fundraiser (Sun. Oct 25, 2015 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
Healing Horse Stables, 378 County Road 700 E in Sadorus, will host a Pony Ride Fundraiser on Saturday, October 25th from 1-5pm. There will be pony rides for $5 each, a bake sale, crafts, raffles, pumpkin decorating, and more.
Around the World Wednesdays (Wed. Oct 28, 2015 9:30 am - 12:00 pm)
Around the World Wednesdays will take place from September 30th through October 28the from 9:30-Noon at the Spurlock Museum, 600 S. Gregory St in Urbana. Children and their parents or caregivers are welcome to learn, create, and play together with crafts and activities from around the world. A donation of $2 per family member is requested for each visit. Please call or go online for details.
Adoption Shoe Drive (Thu. Oct 29, 2015 9:00 am - 1:00 pm)
The Brauna Family and Friends will be collecting used shoes to help fund an adoption. Their new daughter has special needs and will need medical attention and therapies as soon as possible. The partner group is Funds 2 Orgs who will donate $1/pound of shoes toward adoption costs. All shoes will be sent to developing countries. All shoes accepted (any size, style, or condition) as long as they are in a pair. For more details or places to donate, please call or go online.
Zombie Run (Fri. Oct 30, 2015 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm)
Terre Haute, IN
The Bridge Church, 1901 8th Ave in Terre Haute, will host the Zombie Run on Friday, October 30th at 6pm. This is a time of family fun with bounce houses, free food, a zombie run and more. Please call or email for details.
Stories of Stuff—from Pompeii Lecture (Sun. Nov 1, 2015 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
The lecture "Stories of Stuff—from Pompeii" will be presented by Ted Pena on Sunday, November 1st at 3pm at the Spurlock Museum, 600 E. Gregory in Urbana. This lecture is organized by the Central Illinois Society of the Archaeological Institute of America. The lecture will be in Knight Auditorium and is free. For more details, please call or go online
Night with the Angels (Fri. Nov 6, 2015 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm)
The 26th Annual Night with the Angels will take place on Friday November 6th beginning at 6pm at 1411 N. Locust St in St. Louis. This is an all night benefit to support homeless men, women and children. This event is also our annual kick-off for Winter Patrol. NLEC is the last remaining walk-in shelter for the homeless in Mid-America. For more details please call or go online.
First Responder Appreciation Day (Sat. Nov 7, 2015 11:00 am - 1:00 pm)
The 2015 Appreciation Day for Coles County Police, Fire and EMS workers will take place on Saturday, November 7th beginning at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church, 10 Charleston Avenue in Mattoon. All donations go toward the purchase of protective vests for the Mattoon Police and Coles County Sheriff's Department K-9 units. Free food and a raffle will take place. For more details, please call.
U Raise Me Up-a Night Without a Home (Sat. Nov 14, 2015 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm)
U Raise Me Up (a night without a Home) will take place on Saturday, November 14th beginning at 3pm at Hegeler Park in LaSalle. A community event to bring awareness of the homelessness, hunger and raise donations for the IV Pads shelter and Shepherds Closet Food Pantry. Please call or email for more information.

Verena Höfig will be speaking on the topic "The Vikings in Greenland" Lecture on Wednesday, December 2nd at 4pm at the Spurlock Museum, 600 S. Gregory in Urbana. The exhibit and its associated events are sponsored by the Dr. Allan C. Campbell Family Distinguished Speaker Series and co-sponsored by the University of Illinois European Union Center, funded in part by a US Department of Education Title VI grant.
