Twins

Category: Parenting

As a mom of twins, I'm often asked what piece of advice I would give to new moms of multiples. The easiest thing I can think of is this:
If one wakes up, wake them both. If ones needs a diaper change, change them both. If one is hungry, feed them both. I found it was easier to remember when I did something rather than trying to remember who I did it to.

Orange Peels

Category: Housekeeping

I use orange peels in garbage disposal. Saves money on liquid cleaners,  safe and smells great!

Stains

I have a tip for getting stains out of a white t-shirt even if you you washed it. Spray Soft Scrub with bleach on the stain and wash with other white items. Stain will come out! It has saved many of our white t-shirts!

Meal Planning

Category: Meals

I plan out meals on the weekends for two weeks at a time. I buy only those items at the store for the menus. It saves time during the week and money because I'm not buying as many items as I would otherwise.

The Office

Category: Parenting

At our house, getting our homework done efficiently is important to us so that we can spend the rest of the evening enjoying our family time.  So, at the beginning of the school year this year we made my daughter an "office". This is just a plastic shoe box size storage container that has all of the necessary school supplies, crayons, markers, sharpened pencils, erasers, highlighters, stapler, flash cards, white board, etc. Now each night when it is homework time she gets out her neatly stored "office" (which she takes great pride in) and we complete her homework and never waste time looking around our house for school supplies to do the work. This organizing trick took us about 30 minutes and cost about 15.00 to supply and has saved us tons of time this school year! We will continue having an office for each of our school age children every year!

Meal Planning

Category: Organization

I have a tip for making dinner simpler and avoiding the "Its 4:00 p.m. what am I going to make for dinner?" I have 20 dinners organized over a four week period. Every thing from chicken parmesan, round steak, crock-pot meals, ribs and vegetable meatballs, etc. It makes grocery shopping easier and am saving money because I only need to buy the ingredients for those five dinners I have planned for that week.

Stop Buying

Stop buying stuff I don't need.

Breakfast

Category: Meals

I am a stay at home mom of 3 kiddos and I run a daycare out of the home. I cook and clean A LOT! I have learned that to simplify my life the little things really count- like making breakfast in the morning. I like to cook nice meals for the kids and hubby! So I have learned to prepare the pancake batter the night before, set out the pans for cinnamon rolls so I don't make a lot of noise in the morning. When we do have cereal, I set out the number of bowls and spoons so all I have to do is pour cereal and milk! That way mommy isn't stressing in the morning to give my family and daycare kiddos the "most important meal of the day" =)

Place for Toddlers

Category: Parenting

I own a salon and had a grandma who brings her grandchildren in with her. When they are toddlers on the move she will bring a laundry basket in for them to sit on so they don't get all hairy. Of course she puts toys in there and they aren't big enough to get out.

Laundry

Category: Housekeeping

I always had laundry piling up. I never felt like doing it when I got home from work, then when I finally got to it I would have to rewash it. Now I fluff the load that is in the dryer and either fold it, or lay it out on my bed before I go to work - and start another load. Then when I get home, I have one load of laundry to finish and put away. It has saved me so much time, and I don't feel overwhelmed by laundry anymore!
