Pre-Packing Lunches

Category: Time Management

I'm a new mother of a busy 15 month old boy and work part-time. The evenings of the days that I work are busy with playing with my son, spending time with my husband, making dinner, and packing lunches. I began to pack lunches for my husband and I on Sunday nights and dedicated a shelf in my fridge to pre-packed lunch foods ( fruits, veggies, sandwiches, salads, etc). So now all we have to do is grab the already prepared foods from the fridge and fill our lunch bags! It has given us more time to spend together on those busy days we work-hope it helps you too!

Lay Out Outfit

I lay my clothes the night before. It eliminates "the standing in front of the closet in a daze" every morning and the "I don't like the way I look in this so I have to find something else". It greatly speeds up the getting ready in the morning.

Life is too short to fold your underwear!!

Don't Wait Until Tomorrow

Category: Time Management

This may not seem like a trick, but believe me, it works! Simply don't put off for tomorrow what you can do today! This was my New Years resolution last year. It helped me so much I'm doing it again this year. I know it's crazy simple, but it has helped me so much! I hope it helps someone else.

Fast Pancakes

Save ketchup or salad dressing containers. Make a large batch of pancake mix on the weekend, and funnel it into a ketchup or dressing container. Then, when the kids want pancakes during your busy week, you can whip them out in the time it takes to make toast!

Quick Grocery Shopping

Category: Time Management

A lot of people plan their meals and make a grocery list accordingly, this is what I do as well but I take it a step further. After having my list written out I rewrite it to go in the order of the isles at the store. Most of us know where to find each item in the store so this isn't too hard. It makes for a much faster in and out when you have little ones in tow. You don't get to one end of the store and realize you forgot something at the opposite end- this way it's all in order. My friends and extended family are continually amazed at how quickly I can get in and out of the Super Wal-Mart with a weeks worth of groceries without forgetting anything on my list. Usually in 30 minutes or less!

Bedtime Shoe Hunt

Bedtime shoe hunt. We gather everyone's shoes together before bed to avoid a shoe hunt when the bus is coming in the morning.

One Task at a Time

Category: Time Management

My tip is to realize you can only do one thing at a time. Jot your "to do" list down, Prioritize and Tackle one task at a time and you will feel great while doing it and when done!

Picking Out Clothes for School

Category: Time Management

Being a single mom things could get stressful since you are the only one dealing with all the upcoming issues. I had my kids get their clothes picked out for the whole week for school. They would have them hung up in the center of their closet of and in order. This saved a lot of time and stress in the mornings and we could have family breakfast time at the table.
