To clean windshield in bad weather; Take a large flat sheet folded in half long ways & put over windshield with open edges under the wipers &pull tightly across window &open doors to tuck sheet inside.
Could tuck corner of sheet under sun visor to help hold it. Window will be clear & doors won't fully freeze tight. It really works.

Scrapbooking

Category: Other

I'm an avid scrapbook-er - or should I say "was." I have 3 little ones that are all 2.5 years apart so my scrap booking time is extremely limited! However, I still wanted to be able to keep all those papers and drawings and fun things that my children made -- papers from church, encouraging notes from others, drawings, assignments done in school, etc. I devised a "box" system where now I don't have to feel bad about not scrap booking all those memories... I just put them in the specific child's box and worry about it later. Each child has a box with a lid (equivalent to a crate-size). I put in hanging file folders to separate out the time periods (birth, 1-2 years, preschool, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, etc). Any papers or memories that I feel necessary to keep goes in the corresponding folder of that child's "box". I can scrapbook it later or just give that child their box. It's perfect. It keeps things clutter free and is easy for organization. Sometimes I also take pictures of their drawings and upload them in my app called "Artkive" -- this allows you to categorize by child and grade and you can even have the drawings printed into a book down the road! Another way to keep my house clutter free without sacrificing memories!

Trouble Falling Asleep

Category: Other

I often have trouble sleeping, because I think, or worry about things. I have found that if I write down these sort of things in a notebook, I can fall asleep with ease.

Feeding the Fish

Category: Other

Simplifying feeding fish for children: put the right amount of fish food for each day in sections of weekly "pill box". Each day, just open the correct box and voila! That way the kids can't overfeed the fish and it helps them learn the first letters in the days of the week. I am a Kindergarten teacher and it works GREAT in my classroom for our pet fish!

Screen Off

Category: Other

Turn the screen off when you are finished with a call or program on your cell phone or iPad/Tablet instead of letting it turn off eventually on its own. (It's the tiny button at the top of your phone) It will save the battery on your device. I have NEVER had to replace a battery by using this tip.

Tea

When making tea put a pinch of baking soda in the tea as it boils..it brings the flavor of the tea bags out.

Dirty Diaper

Category: Other

Changing your baby's dirty diaper can be challenging when the baby wipes are almost dried out. I started keeping the wipes upside down so all the fluids would go to the "top". So when I needed to use them, I'd flip the container back over and the wipes would come out nice and moist, easier to wipe my baby's bottom. When done, flip back over to keep them ready for next time.

Buildup in Hair

To remove hard water buildup from your hair, mix a handful of shampoo with a teaspoon of baking soda and let sit on your hair for one minute.

Vaseline

Category: Other

For dry cracked elbows, take a pair of sock with stretchy elastic at the top,cut off the stretchy part at top and at night cover elbows with Vaseline and then cover with the stretchy part of the sock. This prevents Vaseline from rubbing off and getting all over sheets. In the morning elbows look and feel softer.

Stale Cookies

Category: Other

Saving those stale cookies-The new packaging with plastic cookie trays and wrap do not reseal well causing cookies to stale very quickly. I learned to put these cookies, as well as homemade ones, in a baggie with a slice of bread. The cookies will draw the moisture out of the bread, making them soft again. I recently used this trick to salvage a bag of specialty cookies purchased for a child with a food allergy! The cookies were 3 x more than an average bag due to the recipe. I was relieved to find it worked with them as well
