Need melted chocolate but don't want to bother with a double boiler or risk of burning in the microwave? Use a hairdryer! It makes melting chocolate chips VERY easy and fast!

Vicks on Candle Warmer

Category: Other

When you are sick, or have a sick child, you can use a Scentsy warmer, or warmer from Walmart, and add some Vicks Vapor Rub mixed with water. The vapors from the rub will be released into the air by the heat from your warmer. The Scentsy warmers are best, and they are safe to leave on for long hours. Its great for clearing up your nose and sinuses!

Bites & Rashes

Category: Other

Having a bite or a rash can be bothersome and ointments are both expensive and messy, plus the sprays can burn. For a quick relief, try placing a small ice cube or a cold pack over the bite or rash to ease the itch and discomfort. If you use an ice cube, gently pat dry. This works the majority of the time because the itchiness is from flared up nerve bundles which are warm upon touch. This trick will quickly cool the nerve bundles down and stop the itch. It's easy, fast, and best of all, free.

Hard to Open Packages

Category: Other

These days it seems like more and more items are coming in those tightly sealed, difficult to open, plastic blister packs that have the hard sealed edges. Even using scissors makes it a stressful task. I've discovered that if you use a hand crank can opener, starting at one of the corners, simply crank down one of the sealed edges, and the package easily comes open.

Hanger Shoulders

Category: Other

Have you ever taken a shirt off the hanger only to find that the shoulders of the shirt still look as though the hanger is still there? I call these "hanger shoulders" - those poofy, pouchy spikes that stick up on the shoulders of your shirt. To get rid of these, put the shirt on, spritz some Downy wrinkle release on those shoulders and pat the spikes down, smoothing the shoulders of the shirt over your shoulders. When the shirt is dry, the hanger marks are gone!

No Rip Calendars

Category: Other

Calendars with little holes to hang on a hook or nail generally get ripped when I change it each month, or when the fan blows on it. Now I use a small binder clip to hold the pages together, and the "handles" are just right for hanging. No more ripped or taped-up calendars.

Stinky Shoes

Category: Other

To get rid of the stinky sneaker smell I put shoes in a plastic bag and stick them in the freezer overnight. Then I put them in the sun (out of the bag) to defrost ;) gets the stink right out. It works with flats, sneakers and boots! This makes my life easier because my house doesn't smell like feet and I don't waste any money on deodorizers.

White Board

If you accidentally write on a white board with permanent marker, use a dry erase marker and go over the permanent marker - it will take it off!

Hanger for Recipes

Category: Other

When preparing a recipe from a recipe book, get a skirt or pants hanger (the kind with the two clips) and clip the recipe book to it, then hang it from a cabinet door knob or handle. This eliminates having to constantly bend over to look at it, and keeps it up away from spills.
