As a busy mom, wife, and teacher, I used to end my days feeling guilty that I hadn't found enough time in the day to pray, however I recently established a super-simple routine that is unbelievably easy and amazingly rewarding. Whenever I use water, in any way, shape, or form, I now take that time to offer a quick prayer. For example, when I turn on my shower in the morning, I praise God for my awakening. When I brush my teeth, I ask him to keep my words clean all day. When I rinse dishes in my sink, I thank him for the blessings of being able to feed my family. I realize that many in our world can not simply turn on a faucet, so I ask God to watch over those that struggle because of this challenge. When I sip on water at work, I ask the Lord to guide my words to my students and colleagues. And when I'm in the laundry room, I ask the God to cleanse our clothes so that when we wear them again, we will be shielded from anything that is not of Him. This view of the symbolic and healing power of water has helped me take tiny moments each day to share with God. It's the easiest change I've ever made in my life, and the most rewarding as well. I hope you try it! It's like a re-baptism every time!
