Bible and Prayer

Category: Faith

I have the hardest time fitting prayer and bible time in on some (okay, most) days. I decided with this new year though that I would pray and read my bible no matter what was going on and with a few changes it has made a big difference. I have three bibles that belong to me personally, all different versions that I keep in different places. One in the bedroom next to the bed, one in the bathroom, and one in my car. At night, my husband and I read Psalm 91 over our home and family for peaceful rest, the one in the bathroom is always read after a long day in a hot bubble bath, and the other in the car has made the biggest difference. On each trip you take in our town, you're almost guaranteed to be stopped at a train for at least 10 minutes at a time, therefore, getting in 10 minutes here and there at random times has been a blessing to me and sometimes that's when God speaks to me the most. I used to get so stressed while waiting for trains to be done, now I look forward to it and even enjoy it and think of it as a blessing when they stop and I have to wait that much longer! As for prayer time, it is hard to find a specific time to pray most days and even harder to stick to exercising, that I have added these two together and started my own routine. I start walking and don't look at the clock until I am totally done talking with God, before I know it, an hour as usually passed without me even looking at the clock one time! I also keep a little book with me of my favorite handwritten scriptures, people and things to pray for, and encouraging words from God that I pull out when waiting in the doctor's office or in line somewhere that keeps my mind off of the stresses of the day. I have been praying also in the car with my daughter so she knows how to pray, at eighteen months she already holds her hands in the air and says "amen" when we're done. These may seem like little things, but the difference it has made in my house is HUGE and I hope to keep finding more ways to add prayer and bible study in to my life throughout this new year!

Prayer

Category: Faith

My life has been simplified by prayer in the morning, prayer in the evening. You see I have a 30 minute commute and I have been using it as my special time with God. I can boldly pray aloud in the comfort of my car. I encourage you to take moments out of your day to be with God. You will never regret it. I used to find that work days were the hardest to feel connected with God and after doing this over the last year I can see so many of His answered prayers and blessing on my family. Great is His faithfulness!

Read Bible

This may not pertain to many, however this has made my life simpler. My washer has had a problem for over a year. When the water is supposed to stop filling up, it keeps going, so when the washer starts agitating, I high-tail it downstairs to manually shut off the water, then turn back on the water for the wash to continue. So many times I have gotten busy, only to remember and run down stairs with the washer overflowing and my utility room floor getting flooded and also cleaned lol. To eliminate the floor getting cleaned other than on my time, I start the washer, sit down and read my Bible until the washer fills up. When agitation begins I turn off the water and start the washer again. Wow! So simple...some me and God time and I can clean my floor on my time! So much simpler than having to mop up water on the washer's time.

Proverbs

Category: Faith

Something I have done that has literally simplified my life is to read a chapter out of Proverbs a day, there are 31 chapters in proverbs, and 30 to 31 days in the month, so one a day, then restart at the beginning of each month. Proverbs is all about wisdom, and to start out each day with wisdom from God's Word really makes your day go more smooth, therefore being simplified! this really helped me so i thought I would share it!

prayer

Over the last several years I have committed to praying every day. I mean really have a conversation with my Savior without interruption. I tried various times of the day, various places and it always seemed like I was being interrupted- too tired, too busy, etc. So, I started turning down my radio (or leaving the Christian music playing softly in the background) and praying after I have dropped my son off at school on my commute to work. I pray out loud and find myself crying, laughing and really communicating with Jesus. On the weekends I will run errands, etc. by myself just to have that time with Jesus!

God Has a Plan

My tip is to not over complicate my life with the poor me, and even though I don't understand the circumstances with my relationship with my kids, I understand that God has a plan and He may reveal these hurts in days, weeks, months, years or maybe never. I just need to hold strong to my faith, and this wonderful life He has given me. God never wastes a hurt. His plan is a great plan! God has saved me and for that I will lean on Him for everything!
