To make cookies soft put them in an air tight container such as a zip lock bag. Put in one piece of bread. The cookies will be soft and the bread will be hard hard

Covering Leftovers or Dishes to Microwave

Category: Meals

Put disposable shower caps on leftovers and when reheating things in the microwave. They are so cheap on ebay and the cheap ones work the best. I have used 1000s for covering things: yeast bread, dinner plates, bowls and then just throw them away.  Also there is no microwave to clean up.

Using Coffee Grounds for Gardening

Category: Housekeeping

I love to grow plants. The simple trick to remember is to save your coffee grounds. When you go to plant your plants, mix in the coffee grounds with the soil. The plants love the caffeine! If you don't drink coffee, go to Starbucks - they give away their grounds. Also, once a week, save your coffee or tea with nothing in it and use it to water your plants. And a note about fennel - use fennel seeds with fish or in salads, it's great!

Meal Planning

Category: Meals

Take time to plan menus to make grocery shopping more efficient and cost effective. Plan a day of leftovers into the menu to prevent having to cook at least one night per week. Keep the menus with the grocery lists to make future shopping and planning quick and easy.

Grilled Cheese

Category: Meals

I have a couple of tips for cooking. When my mom makes grilled cheese sandwiches she butters both of the outsides of the bread so they don't stick to the grill. When my mom reheats something, she puts it in the oven at 350 degrees and leaves it in for a few minutes.

No Fret

Category: Faith

"No Fret" I really rely on God for all that he does and gives. He never gives me more then I can handle (even when I think it's enough already). God is Good all the time.

Allowance for Kids

Category: Parenting

Instead of giving your kids an allowance just to give it to them, write a chore with a money amount next to it on ping pong balls or cards (eg. "Sweep Kitchen $0.50), and however many chores the child does, they will get the amount of money for their allowance that they earned by doing chores!

Keeping the Refrigerator Clean

Category: Housekeeping

The easiest way to keep your fridge from getting all dirty, sticky and nasty- Line each shelf with Press n Seal saran wrap, then when dirty just peel away the mess and start over! Saves so much time and energy!

Keeping Cookies Fresh

Category: Meals

To keep cookies soft & fresh, I put a piece of bread or a cracker in the container. It's simple and it helps me & those eating what I cook ;)

Warming Up Pizza

Category: Meals

Problem- Leftover pizza crusts get hard when rewarmed
Solution- Some pizza companies sell butter garlic sauce. Spread this over the crusts before putting it in the microwave. (Or regular butter and then sprinkle with garlic salt) microwave as normal and crusts will be nice and soft and delicious.
