Blog for Family

I am a busy mom of four kids (2, 4, 4, 6), the wife of a youth minister, teach full-time and photographer-on-the-side. I don't have time to record every "first", funny kid saying, "awww moment", and other things that go in baby books. I started a blog for my family and enabled text messaging. Now, whenever something happens that I want to remember forever or want my kids to read (favorite verses, lyrics, quotes), I just text it in. Then, every January, I print off a blog book for the year previous. Voila! A very detailed book of our past year, helpful hints for the future, and those moments that I want to be forever memories. My kids love reading what they used to say, what we did together as a family, proud moments we want to remind them of and it is my hope that they share with their own children someday!

Bowl as a Speaker

Instead of going out and buying a fancy speaker for your iPhone or iPod put it in a glass bowl. The shape of the bowl makes it louder!

Vicks on Your Feet

Vicks Vapor Rub to help soothe those late night coughs for you or your children is a must! Take Vicks Vapor Rub right before bed time and plaster it on the bottom of you/your kids feet. Then cover both feet with socks. I can honestly say I didn't believe this until I tried and it is AMAZING! Prepare yourself or your kids for a world of rest without all of the cold/cough medication. Get Vapor-ed today and you won't go back to the cold medicines:) Enjoy!

To-Do List as Phone Background

Every morning I write out my to-do list for the day. I then take a picture of it with my phone and set that image as my background/wallpaper on my phone. That way, whenever I look at my phone throughout the day, I am reminded of the things I need to get done.

Call A Friend

Cleaning house- From giant overwhelming tasks to smaller projects. Call a friend(s), drop kids off at sitter and tag team each other's house. Yolked together makes a burden light.

Little Helpers

When expecting my fourth little one I wanted to make it easier for my other children to help around the house. I relocated the everyday dishes to a lower shelf so that even the six year old could help unload the dishwasher and set the table independently. This helped to teach responsibility and self-sufficiency as well as free up time for a busy mom. Delegate when possible, even to the littlest helpers!

Place for Baby Toys

Need some storage space for the baby with all their toys? Take the bassinet net from the pak'n play and attach it to the outside. If attached appropriately, it should fold up like a big pocket and you can put all their toys in it. You have toys conveniently located for safe play and they are picked up and all being kept together attached to the outside!

Wooden Spoon

One of my biggest problems is things boiling over when I'm cooking! If you take a wooden spoon and lay it across the top of the pot it won't boil over! (This isn't a 100% guarantee, but 95% or better!)

An Onion in Each Room

Put a onion in every room in your house during the cold and flu season. Un cut, not in a bag, on a counter, in a corner one onion per room.
It will take all the bacteria out of the air and you will be free of the cold or flu. Throw away when cold and flu season is over and start all over next cold and flu season (dont use the same onion) it has all the bacteria in your house stored inside.

Inside Out Laundry

Have your children turn their clothes right side out before placing them into the laundry.
